For Lindsay and Michael’s late summer wedding, our materials were almost entirely foraged from the surrounding landscape. We pruned local apple trees for their fruit-laden branches, and wild invasive cucumbers, cattails and tansy from the meadows of the Champlain Valley. The couple were married under an apple tree, so later that evening, their guests dined beneath apple trees, an orchard of boughs arching above their heads. They met on a boat, so their ceremony was flanked by two enormous antique canoes filled with several truckloads of gleaned wildflowers and grasses.
