For this October fete, the design began with an enormous tree stump, excavated from a hillside in Vermont, transported to our studio, and then incorporated into a naturalistic garden complete with mushrooms, ferns and pheasants, from which guests plucked hors d’oeuvres. The flowers were rich with color and with eggplants and artichokes on the stem. The eggplants and more were harvested from the client’s garden, and guests’ names calligraphed on fallen sycamore leaves.
