ROW 7
For chef Dan Barber, breeder Michael Mazourek and seedsman Matthew Goldfarb’s innovative seed company, Row 7, two monumental installations framed a many course dinner– first, a fifty foot wall came alive with a host of weeping willow and blooming spring branches that conjured a giant hungry crocodile’s maw. Within the dining space, we suspended massive tree stumps, their roots splayed into a spiderey horizon. These roots pulled the viewers into their underground realm of nutrients and sugars of Row 7’s famously delicious Badger Flame beet. Tables held tangles of willow, soil, spring bulbs and tiny sprouting microgreens. Guests’ names were calligraphed on the mulch of last year’s fallen leaves.
Chefs included Dan Barber, Daniel Humm, Dan Kluger, Christian Puglisi, Heinz Reitbauer, Ana Sortun, Daniela Soto-Innes, Alex Stupak and Jean-Georges Vongerichten.
